In this episode of Finding Meaning with Suresh Basnet, Suresh interviews visionary artist and trauma resolution psychotherapist, Rebecca Sophia Strong.
Rebecca Sophia Strong is the author and visionary behind Cosmogenesis: The Story of Us. She is a trained psychotherapist in private practice and an independent Playwright/Screenwriter. Chosen for her visionary script & artistic excellence in bringing the arts & sciences into one unifying story, Rebecca Sophia has a lifetime of dedicated creative work at the intersection of education, performance art and science.
As a response to a “crisis of meaning” in young people due to racism, climate change, and a loss of a sense of belonging, along with Cosmogenesis, Strong created a 15-part, non-formal science curriculum and a one-woman show teaching the 13.8-billion-year scientific story as a message of hope and inspiration.
Rebecca Sophia is a practiced meditator, dancer, aikido practitioner, embodiment guide and social artist. Nominated for the MacArthur Fellowship, Rebecca Sophia is a TEDx speaker and has worked with Ithaca College, University of Minneapolis Minnesota, the WILD Foundation, University of Colorado Boulder’s Environmental Center and Fiske Planetarium sharing the message of Cosmogenesis.
Rebecca shares her transformative journey from studying cultural anthropology and psychology, to traveling the world. She discusses her experience with grief, her passion for social diversity, and how her work is seeking to inspire and heal. The episode includes meditative practices and insights into blending Eastern and Western philosophies for holistic well-being.
